How were all the different “Kinds” of animals fit on the Ark?
There was plenty of room! According to the most conservative estimates on what a cubit was in Genesis 6:15, the Ark would have been 438ft long by 43.8ft high. This is equal to 522 livestock cars on today’s trains. These could transfer about 125,000 average size sheep. The average size of animals large and small equals approx. the size of a sheep. Using present day taxonomy, there are 18,000 species with a fair estimate of 18,000 extinct species. This would total 75,000 animals on the ark. You must add in the 5 extra of every clean kind of animal mentioned in Gen 7:2, which amounts to another 3,000 for a total of 78,000 animals. This would only use 60% of the ark’s capacity. There would still be plenty of room for insects (one million species,) living quarters, and storage food (remember that animals can hibernate). Remember it is God at work here who performs miracles and wonders.
