(A Spiritual Solution for a Spiritual Problem!)

"If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." [John 8:31-32]

God desires to give you the help that you need, but you have a responsibility in this process as you were given a free will to choose.  We must learn to see through a spiritual set of eyeglasses realizing that it is only through God and His Word where you can become free from this problem of cutting.  The secular world has only Band-Aids or attempts to manage your problems with its solutions.  Jesus Christ is the only way where you can be set free from "Cutting" and the root that is causing it.  There is a hole in your spiritual heart that needs to be filled!

" Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." (3 John 2)

NOTE:  You are a Body; Soul and Spirit!  So we will be addressing cutting from a spiritual; physical and physiological as well as from a psychological standpoint.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

God has made you with a mind; body; heart; spirit and soul.  Whatever you think on will affect chemical releases in your body that can affect and influence your emotions.  Your emotions highly affects your actions.  Repeated actions lead to addictive habits which determines your nature; character and DESTINY!  It all begins with your thought life!!!

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," (2 Cor 10:4-5)

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things." (Phillipians 4:8)

PATHWAY OF A THOUGHT

[THOUGHTS > ACTIONS>EMOTIONS> HABITS>NATURE>CHARACTER>DESTINY]

"Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." (James 1:12-15)

THOUGHT LIFE:
Whatever you think on highly affects you!  Many times there are things from the past which are known and suppressed within you. It may be an abusive situation (Sexual-Physical-Verbal).  The stress of life in the times we live in can surface numerous things which can overwhelm your mind.  Thoughts bombard it which may thrust you into depression or feelings of insecurity and a lack of self worth.  The Battle is in the mind and what we allow ourselves to think on.

THE STRONG INFLUENCE OF EMOTIONS:  Whatever you think on will bring forth emotions which will trigger a release of chemicals in the body which can overload you. One good chemical that your body produces when you are feeling good is called "Seratonin".  It is a neurotransmitter that facilitates many body functions, including feeling good about yourself.  A serotonin deficiency [chemical imbalance] causes depression and brings on a further under secretion of it!!!  The secular world will deal with these imbalances with drugs such as Prozac.  Others will turn to cutting and other addictive behaviors that only temporarily seem to solve the problem.  It can be even an eating disorder.  The root of the problem must be identified that is bringing on thoughts that are leading to destructive emotions such as guilt.

"Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)

Cutting is the result of some spiritual root that needs to be removed. If you - Cut - the top off of a weed and leave the root the weed will grow back.  The root must be removed to eliminate the weed. "Cutting" is a temporary fix that never gets to the root of the problem.  It will then result in an addictive behavior which will thrust you into a deeper despair in time!  Again your thought life affects your emotions and the resulting physiological chemical release.  This in turns influences your actions.

ACTIONS: An emotional overload and its corresponding physiological chemical release in the body may lead one to various actions.  Think of a Semi-Truck that has a heavy cargo in the trailer.  The driver in the cab makes a sharp turn on a slippery road and then the heavy trailer slides out taking the cab with it into the ditch.  The cab and driver is our mind and thought life.  The trailer represents the emotions building up as we drive on the slippery path of life!

FORMATION OF HABITS/ADDICTIVE BEHAVIORS: If you continue an action over a repeated number of times a habit forms which in turn can be called an addiction.  It can be to some substance or well as action on your part.  Cutting can turn into a "Habit of Escape".  The root problem still remains as the weed may have been temporarily cut off but grows quickly back again.

NATURE: Our personal qualities and attributes forms who we are and is our nature! It also consists of our affections; natural appetites; passions; disposition and temper.  Destructive habits (Cutting) that originated in our thought life will form and affect our nature either in positive or in negative ways.   This is turn affects those around us and certainly our relationship to God.

"By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins" (2 Peter 1:4-9)

CHARACTER: These are the unique qualities that are impressed upon a person by habits and your nature.  Character is the traits and mark of personality that is engraved upon you.  This is who you are and seen by the people around you.

DESTINY: The question is where I will end up in life as I pass into eternity!  Destiny is your ultimate fate or eternal purpose.  God has appointed a pre-determined plan for you to follow and you have an arch enemy destroyer that is trying to keep you from fulfilling it.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you." (1 Peter 5:8)

This enemy uses cutting as a way to keep you in a spiritual bondage and from the Truth that was designed to set you free.  The root of the problem must be extracted to live in the freedom that you were designed to live in!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17)

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth -- in Him. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1: 7-13)

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
